About Us
Doctors Andrew and Marta Dean established Laporte Animal Clinic in 1996. Andrew and Marta and several friends and family built the interior of the practice by hand. Their goal was to open a friendly, “mom and pop” type of mixed animal veterinary practice to serve Laporte, Fort Collins, and the surrounding area. Both doctors had previously worked at several very busy small animal and mixed animal practices and desired to have a more one-on-one approach to Veterinary medicine, while still offering the highest quality of medicine, surgery and diagnostics. The doctors have many years of experience, and in-depth knowledge of the care of many different species.
Here at Laporte Animal Clinic, we treat all sorts of animals, from the smallest mouse, turtle, birds, snakes, guinea pigs, rabbits and other exotics, to dogs and cats, to horses. We enjoy especially interacting with their caretakers, and stress education of owners as a major goal. We want to help you take the best possible care of your four and two-legged, feathered, scaly or furred friends. We seek to offer you a wide range of services for treatment and surgery of your pets, and educate you on all available resources and options when needed (in order to help you make the best decisions, both for you and your pet). We strongly believe in preventative care and helping your pets live long, healthy, active lives.
Small Animal and Exotics Services Include:
- Thorough physical examinations for sick and well patients of all types
- Hospitalization and medical care, IV fluid therapy, etc. for sick pets
- Complete vaccinations for dogs, cats and ferrets
- Advanced, safer isoflurane gas anesthesia and propofol induction, as well as many different types of pain control modalities, based on what is proper for each animal’s condition
- Compassionate, thorough care for your senior pets
- Special incubator, oxygen cage and nebulizer for sick birds, reptiles and other exotics and neonatal dogs and cats
- EKG, Blood pressure and pulse oximetry monitoring for all our surgical patients
- In house laboratory and x-ray capability (standard body x-rays and dental x-rays), Ultrasound available, also
- Spays, Castrations, soft-tissue surgeries (including bladder surgeries, tumor removals, etc.) orthopedic surgery
- Nutritional and preventative care counseling
- Knowledgeable dental care including complete tooth cleaning and polishing root planning, dental x-rays, tooth extractions for dogs and cats and care for special dental problems of rabbits and rodents
- OFA x-rays for breeding dogs (of hips and elbows)
- Microchip implantation
